Degassing plungers are use to push degassing tablets or tubes to the bottom of the melt to ensure the chemicals react with the metal producing the desired effect,

The plunger is dome or bell shaped with holes and a long handle. This keeps the tablet/Tube with chemicals imersed until the chemical reaction ceases.

Steel tools can be coated with ladle coat to protect from cross contamination. When high purity results are required it is best to use graphite tools. .
